Future

Following the First CWWA Annual Conference and the election of a 92-93 Executive council in October, the most important responsibility of the Association will be to review the proposed Strategic Plan and to pursue its implementation, guided by the CWWA Mission Statement.

The Strategic Plan of the Association puts emphasis on the following elements:

Professional Development
To provide a forum for the exchange of Water and Wastewater and information among Caribbean practitioners,
To develop the professionalism of the members of CWWA,
To encourage inter-disciplinary linkages with other operatives in the sector, and
To promote and maintain the highest possible standards of professional competence and practice of persons engaged in or about to engage in Water Supply and Wastewater Disposal.

Technological Development
To advance the science, practice and management of the sector and to encourage study, research and development for the benefit of Caribbean people.

Training
To promote training of Water Supply and Wastewater practitioners, to upgrade the level of system operation and maintenance.

Education
To promote public education and information in the Water Supply and Wastewater Sector, to accomplish greater public awareness and participation. In Addition, other activities proposed for the future will be:
Institutional Strengthening with the establishment of administrative guidelines and the development of operational procedures.
Membership Development, including Sections (or Branches) in Barbados, the Eastern Caribbean and Jamaica.
Conference Organization, to plan and organize CWWA Annual Conference.

Finally, greater membership participation is expected in all activities as the Association strives to realize its true potential while making its contribution to regional integration at the technical level.
